About DPMC

Advancing an ambitious, resilient and well-governed New Zealand.

DPMC occupies a unique position at the centre of New Zealand's system of democratic government. Its purpose is to advance an ambitious, resilient and well-governed New Zealand.

DPMC's overall area of responsibility is in helping to provide, at an administrative level, the 'constitutional and institutional glue' that underlies our system of parliamentary democracy.

Ensuring that executive government functions well requires us to maintain close relationships of trust and confidence with the Governor-General, the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

As our role and functions grow, so have the number of Ministerial portfolios we have responsibilities within. We now serve Ministers with responsibilities relating to national security, risk and resilience, and the regeneration of greater Christchurch.
